Our Story

Wear where you’re frm.

Some places never leave you.

I was born in San Francisco’s Sunset District, near 19th Avenue, and raised in the Portola. Like many people who grew up in the city, I learned early that every neighborhood carried its own identity. You could feel it in the food, the architecture, the people, the languages spoken on the street, and even the ride you took to get there.

I took MUNI everywhere.

Growing up, crossing the city wasn’t just transportation—it was discovering worlds within a few miles of each other. The Sunset’s foggy evenings, the family-run businesses of the Portola, the parks, the corner stores, the bakeries, the communities. Every neighborhood had a personality, and everyone who lived there carried a quiet pride in calling it home.

As a second-generation American born to Vietnamese-Chinese immigrants, I found a sense of identity through these communities. The neighborhoods that raised me helped shape who I am. They taught me that where you’re from is more than a place on a map—it’s a collection of memories, values, people, and experiences that stay with you for life.

That’s why I created frm.

The name comes from the shorthand many of us grew up using in the early days of texting on Nokia phones and AIM—“frm” for “from.” The period represents a map marker: a small dot that signifies a place, a memory, a beginning.

I’ve always been a hat person. I wanted to create a hat that felt elevated, timeless, and comfortable enough to become part of someone’s everyday uniform. But more than that, I wanted to create something that allowed people to wear where they’re from with pride.

Each neighborhood in the collection is chosen by people who have called it home. Every edition represents a real place, a real community, and the stories that live there.

Whether you grew up there, still live there, visited once and never forgot it, or simply identify with what a place represents, frm. is for you.

This is more than a hat.

It’s a reminder of where you come from, the people who shaped you, and the places you’ll always carry with you.

Wear your frm.
